Jade had a little accident last night….

Filed under: Blythe Diary, My Little Customization Tips — Tags: , — theblythemummy @ 3:05 am

Don’t laugh. It’s not very funny. (Well it is really quite funny) Jade’s hair and eyelashes were melted by accident last night. And no, she didn’t do that while trying to light up a ciggie to have a smoke like the naughty Stella did.

It was me! The absent minded Mummy who did that to her. I was trying to do the final touch up to her new dress set that I sewed for her when it happened. You know the little trick of melting the ends of the ribbon so that it will not fray? I was doing that when it happened.

For the totally clueless, here’s a tip for you. If you want to stop the ribbon from fraying, hold a flame close to ends of the ribbon for like 2 seconds and It will melt the ends of the ribbon and stop it from fraying EVER.

It was the final step that I had to do before setting up the photoshoot for her and I was so excited. However when I was done with her dress and proceeded to smoothing out her hair, I realised something was terribly wrong. A chunk of her hair at the ends had melted and her right eyelashes had melted to a stump!

I was 100% sure that the flame did not touch her hair or was even close to her hair or eyelashes. So here’s the news ladies! A naked flame held to your girls around 4″ away can still melt her hair and lashes. No contact is neccessary. So if you ever want to do finishing touches, remember to remove it from her body and do it far away from your girls, even if they insist that they are not scared of fire and that they want to watch what you are doing.

Where my finger is pointing is where I had the flame to melt the ends.

And this is a close up of her melted hair.

And this is what happened to her eyelashes.

An emergency operation had to take place last night at 11.30pm at night. I couldn’t bear the thought of my poor Jade going without eyelashes even for one night. I ransacked my own make up stash and decided something had to be done immediately. Even if it meant using my own fake Shu Umera eyelashes. (My mum is so going to shake her head and sigh if she found out that I used my $28 eye lashes on a doll!)

While the transplant went without a hitch… the glue that I had used started to leave stains on her face. Just when I thought the drama was over and was going to give her a hair cut!!! And you know how glue is like on plastic, they are a nightmare to remove. I spent 15 min cleaning her face with my sponge before I was satisfied that it wasn’t going to leave a permanant mark on my precious baby.

It did not leave a mark on my precious girl. But I suspect that my over zealous rubbing had caused part of her make up to come up. Oh bother! I cannot believe so many things can happen in one night! Now I got to rework on her make up. I was contemplating it before but now it seems like I have no choice but to go through with it. But this will have to be best left to another day. Probably in the weekend.

A hair trim followed after her facial. While at it, I started trimming my own fringe too. Lol. Talk about Mummy, daughter bonding sessions!

And what the heck. I might as well give her a shower now that she had a facial. Amazingly, I managed to clean off a lot of clothes stains just by cleaning her with my face sponge from Body Shop and with just WATER! Someone please try it and see if it is just me.

I powdered her and was finally able to call it a day at 12.45am. I don’t want to imagine what my life will be like when I have real babies.

Pictures of her new outfit with Jade’s newly trimmed hair will be up tomorrow!

Eleanor arriving soon.

Filed under: Blythe Diary — theblythemummy @ 3:18 am

I has Eleanor. And Eleanor is arriving soon! She will either be at my place today or tomorrow. I was hoping to win both Christina and Eleanor but ended up with only Eleanor. Perhaps we are only entitled to win one. But really, what’s the point of having 2 Anniversary dolls when you can only win one? I mean they are meant to come as a pair aren’t they? They are supposed to be close loving sisters at that and yet they are sold individually? Doomed to be seperated? (Ok am a little overly dramatic here but am still upset that I do not have Christina)

Now I am obsessed about having Christina too. Just so that I can have the set. Not that I am really psyched about both really. Christian reminded me of My Best Friend and Eleanor is almost a replica of Last Kiss. However, I simply must have the set.

You do know what I am feeling right? =P

Stella gone Wild

Filed under: Uncategorized — theblythemummy @ 5:31 am

The boys persuading Stella to take a swig of the beer and a puff of that cigarette. Evil!

Keeping count.

Oh my god… I have been sooooo busy for the past few months. I have meant to achieve so many things dolly wise (sand matting, more rerooting, more dolly clothes) and I never got around to having anything done at all.

I did managed to buy a lot more dollies though. In fact, I think I have lost track of how many dollies I have. I am going through this exercise to track the number of dollies I have at the moment.

MBF (Stella)
RDP (Jade)
STA (Silky)
LK (Juliet)
AE (Sasha)
L’il Heart by Milk (Nameless)
Tommy Feb 6 ( Nameless)
UT (Jolie)
PDE Saffy (Marilyn)
PDE Aubrey ( Nameless Faux Peach)
Heart of Montmatre (Pearl)
Precocious Candy Mushroom (Nameless)

In boxes
Mrs Retro Mama

For Sale
Tommy Feb 6 (I have 2!)
HOM NRFB (Yes I have an extra one of that too)
Goovy Groove
Superior Skate Date

Ok 17 dollies in all. I reckon I will be in good shape once I start selling off the ones that I want to sell. It’s getting a little too much to handle.

I have absolutely no idea how some Mummys have so many dollies and still have them all looking impeccably groomed and cared for. Some of my girls are definitely looking a little “wild” at the moment.

This weekend, I am going to brainstorm for names for my unnamed girls. And all of them are going to get a change of clothes. Maybe a bath too.

Heart of Montmartre up for sale.

Yes I am being really ruthless at the moment. I really do not need that many dolls. Repeat to self again: “I really do not need that many dolls.” (Do you believe me?)

I have a HOM NRFB up for adoption. She’s really lovely. You cannot tell from the pictures, but her hair is actually a mix of streaks. Pink and an ashy blonde. And don’t even get me started on her dress. Her stock is just way cute. This girl really should be creating a stampede but she is just way way under rated at the moment.

Marilyn (Customized Saffy) up for Adoption!

It’s official. I have fallen in love with Mondie. I gotta have her. However looking around my room, I simply have run out of justification on how I can go and splash more cash on yet another ridiculously overpriced doll.

“Erm… it’s my birthday next week…” I tried to convince myself. Poor excuse. I am getting myself the I phone already on top of that Chloe bag. Anyway, I am sick of feeling poor and looking shabby because I am allocating more funds into my dolly obsession than focusing on looking more like a doll myself. Lol.

Soooo… I have made the decision to sell off my Saffy. She’s newly customized and smoking hot. I had initially wanted to enter her for the TIB Heroes Contest. But I simply could not bring myself to do it after spotting another 2 Marilyns on the list already. Boo for me. If only I had been quicker….

Well I guess the next best thing I could do with her is to sell her off to raise funds for my Mondie… my precious….

Here’s a picture of Marilyn.

The things I do for my girls…

Filed under: Blythe Diary — Tags: — theblythemummy @ 7:32 am

The things I pick up just to please my girls… it started with the sewing machine.. then crocheting… then picking up screw drivers and chalk pastels to customize them and now felting. Just so I can make them delicious cakes.

My friend just pointed out to me that I have a lot of potential in excelling in one area but because I choose to spread my interest so thin… I am turning into the Jill of all trades but master of none. Looking at my flickr pics, I think I am not the only Blythe Mummy with this problem. =)

It’s a delightful problem to have, only my room is turning into a clutter with cloth, dolls, felt, yarn and books all over the place. And as much as I indulge in my girls… my Mum does not have the same tolerance for me. The ultimatum: To clean up the clutter in my room by this weekend.

So there.. these are probably these cakes are probably the last batch of anything they will get from me until I have cleaned out my room. A trip to Ikea is inevitable now….*Smacks head*

That’s Tommy and Milk on a rare night in together. They are the olsen twins of my dolls… only I am wondering if I should give up Milk to purchase ridiculously expensive Mondie.

The dilemma….

I think I need either a pay increase or a new job. Lol.

My Faux Peach

Filed under: Blythe Diary — Tags: — theblythemummy @ 5:23 am

Faux Peach

So there you go… my Faux Peach. Finally all fixed up.

Customizations on Faux Peach is as follow:
-New make up
-New Saran Hair Reroot
-Sleep Eyes
-Spray Matted

I must say that I am rather pleased with the overall effect. Yes I still have a gap in her scalp at the back of her head and her make up is a little uneven (Note to self and all: Do NOT attempt to apply make up on dolls at night as you really see best under natural light. Well at very least, hold temptation to spray matte her until morning so u can still fix her mistakes.) but I am giving myself some slack because it’s my first attempt. *Pats self on the back*

To make her truly exclusive, I even made her her own dress. Painstakingly handsewn and you cannot see it, but I even made her matching knickers as I wanted the peek a boo effect with a dress so short. Lol.

I do not know if it’s just me, I felt that I ought to have really bonded with her but this is not happening yet. I suspect it’s my perfectionist streak… here I am saying that I do not mind her gap at the back of her head but I think it’s really bugging me in reality.

Perhaps I should work on rotating her scalp back to its original position. It might be the reason why the scalp is not going back into the head nicely. And yes… a coat of varnish on her lips will be nice too.

Little Saran Hair Rerooting Tips from the beginner who survived it.

Filed under: My Little Customization Tips — theblythemummy @ 2:34 am

I have been lusting after Peach. But she seemed more and more unattainable as time passes. When the Prima Dolly Encore came out, I made a snap decision to make my own.

Nothing…. simply nothing would have prepared me for the long tedious work ahead. Rerooting is not a difficult to skill to pick up just from reading tutorials from Ggroovydoll and likes. It’s just really time consuming, back breaking and tedious. Paying USD150 to have someeone do the reroot for you almost works out to be economical when I counted the hours and nights I spent in front of the TV working on the reroot.

But here’s a few more tips to add on for the beginners like myself.
1. Wear a thimble and save your fingers. It really really hurts after a while.

2. Buy a small plier. It comes in very helpful when the holes are too small and the needles get stuck. You use the plier to push in or pull out the needle.

3. I didn’t know how to work with the saran hair and wasted a lot of it in the initial stage as they all get too tangled up for me to work on. I cut the large skein as instructed and started working from there. What I did not realise is that as you pull them out, the rest starts to tangle.I wasted about 25% of that skein by not separating them out.

I minimized wastage with the second skein by dividing the large skein into smaller chunks. I used hair from each individual small chunk instead and that really helped to prevent the hair from getting all tangled up and messy.

This is the end result of my Fake Peach. Next step… I have to work on figuring out how to stuff her scalp back in.

Any suggestions for her make up is welcome as that will be my weekend project this week. Have a good weekend everyone!
